Articles
Notes and write-ups on engineering, security and building products.
What do I write about?
I write about the decisions behind the code: system architecture, application security, artificial intelligence and open-source contributions. These articles explore concrete problems, alternatives and technical consequences, using examples to connect the concepts to everyday engineering work.
Start with the system design article to explore scale, failure and evolution. The NIST CSF article covers security in web applications and SaaS platforms, while the swift-system contribution follows a buffer-truncation investigation. The AI article discusses its role in engineering work.
Each article starts with an engineering question and records the context needed to evaluate the solution. Rather than showing only the final implementation, I explain the limits of the approach, what can fail and which signals might justify a different decision for another product or team.
Jev makes decisions. Your code owns the consequences.
A model that returns decisions instead of prose changes the integration. An account-recovery example, working code and an interactive lab show where its authority should end.

AI made code faster to produce, but it did not replace decisions about scale, security, cost, failure, and evolution. A visual and interactive introduction to system design.
